Learn every aspect of becoming a Music Supervisor and develop your craft to prepare you for a career in the business. An Interactive 8 part course with Emmy Nominated Music Supervisor Brienne Rose (EMILY IN PARIS, RUSSIAN DOLL, SEARCH PARTY, NEVER HAVE I EVER, UNDER THE BRIDGE)
Over the 8 sessions you will learn: How to approach projects and scenes creatively; How to curate amazing and unique soundtracks, prepare detailed paperwork for clearing music, handle music negotiations and music licensing, understand budgets and fees, build the right contacts; How to interact with other professionals in this line of work, navigate the challenges of an evolving business; and how to define your own style and process, get your first job and/or further develop your career.

COURSE BREAKDOWN
Week 1: Overview and introduction to Music Supervision; defining the role, context within the industry, basics of music licensing. Creative introduction and discussion, responsibilities of a Music Supervisor, organization and understanding various types of projects.
Week 2: Creative Part I; The art of music selection, curating soundtracks; defining your style, how to approach scenes, musical arcs, and projects effectively. Scene studies, score and original music conversation.
Week 3: Music Licensing: Understanding song ownership and copyrights, clearance processes for clearing music, quote requests, fees & negotiations
Week 4: Licenses, cue sheets, Film and TV budgets
Week 5: Advertising and brand work, on-camera recordings, promos and trailers
Week 6: Collaborating while being creative; How to navigate an evolving industry and use your love of music to communicate with all the people you need to know and interact with as a Music Supervisor.
Week 7: Creative Part II; Putting it all together; building a unique soundtrack, defining tones and themes, incorporating budget and licensing parameters. How and where to find music, discover unknown artists and bands, stay organized, handle challenges, and approach every project creatively
Week 8: How to get started, define your own style, build relationships and advance your career

Course Fee:

Brienne Rose is an Emmy nominated Music Supervisor, whose undeniable passion for music and its power to transform picture drive her ability to craft uniquely curated soundtracks for every project. Through determination and a sheer love of music, she launched her company, Noise/Racket in 2009 in the West Village of New York. Now based in LA, she has worked on a wide range of acclaimed shows and movies including RUSSIAN DOLL, MINX, EMILY IN PARIS, NEVER HAVE I EVER, SEARCH PARTY, SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS (and upcoming shows RUNNING POINT with Kate Hudson, and THE LAST THING HE TOLD ME, Season 2.. among others). She has also done musical collaborations for brands such as Spotify, Google, Jimmy Choo and Squarespace. She now splits her time between Los Angeles and Santa Fe, NM with the World’s cutest five year old twins.
